Waldorf Play Kitchen

This is my children's play kitchen, made by their grandpa...it comes complete with a baby high chair and a wooden baby bed. They have a big wooden table beside it for playing store. They will set up their wooden cash register on the table, someone will sit on one side of the table and the merchants will pass by and get their items rung up and put into the paper sacks (which are saved from Wild Oats) We have a scale for weighing and measuring out dry goods. 

When it's not time to run a store, the play kitchen is simply that, a kitchen. They will "cook" and create wonderful-looking dishes for hours on end. They will pretend they run a restaurant. Or sometimes, they are moms at home with their babies, cooking dinner for their family.

This lovely wooden serving tray was painted by me. They love to serve tea or little appetizers on it. I happily oblige them and pretend to eat everything up! 

This sweet little doll was named Jack-Jack by my son. He is a Waldorf doll (made by Aunt Boo's Babies) and he is fixing to eat his lunch, a healthy carrot and some strawberries (made by Enchanted Dandelions) The imagination is the limit with these wonderful toys. Every child should own a play kitchen and accessories. Pretend play is really learning...the children imitate everyday life and what they act out is in fact preparing them for life when they are grown. Everything they see and do is preparing them for adulthood, so let's make their play super sweet and extra special with hand-crafted and natural toys!
