Meet  Christy of BearyOrganics   :

All of my early memories include my blankey. My grandmother made me a small quilt before I was born. It was blue, pink, and yellow squares, with extra silky corners. I loved it through and through, carrying it with me always.

When I was pregnant with my first child, my father pulled that old blankey out of a box, and the emotions came pouring out. I instantly knew that my baby needed his own handmade quilt. I had been sewing for years; clothes, fancy costumes from my days as an acrobat, and even a custom wedding dress for a dancer who needed an artist’s help designing a dress to fit her choreography.

I did a little research and decided organic cotton was my only option. I didn’t want pesticide residue messing up all that love I put into it. It wasn’t easy, and it took a lot longer than I had anticipated (I think he was 6 months old before I finished), but in the process, I discovered a craft that I love.

Great story of how you came to make your quilts. I am glad you found a way to pass on the love you received in that first blanket!=)
