Meet Chris and Laura of  The Wood Garden  :


We are a husband and wife team who have always been creative--in fact, we met in high school art class. When our first son was small Chris started making wooden trucks for him, and quickly fell in love with woodworking and creating wooden toys especially. He bought more tools and made it his hobby, and later a business as we started to sell the toys at craft shows under the name CB (Canadian Built) Woodcrafts. Eventually we heard about Etsy and decided to open up a shop here under a new name, The Wood Garden.

Our workshop is in our home garage in Windsor, Ontario. We dream of someday moving our family out to a chunk of land in the country and having a large, bright workshop powered by wind. (As well as a huge garden, some chickens, and perhaps another baby or two.) Maybe Etsy will help us fulfill that dream!

We are proud to be creating quality handmade toys right here in Canada, using environmentally friendly materials, as opposed to plastic toys mass-produced overseas. We are trying to provide a different kind of choice than what you'd find in a big-box store.
